// What are epitheses?
An epithesis is an individually designed aid that is produced in cases of irreversible facial injury or defects.  In this case, the epithesis replaces missing facial parts.  Every epithesis is unique and is made individually for the patient.

// When is an epithesis fitted?
In the case of facial deformities caused by hereditary malformation of body parts (e.g. of the ear), burns, accident injuries or tumour diseases.

// What material are epitheses made of?
The materials used in modern epithetics are silicon and synthetic prosthesis material. In our epithetics laboratory, epitheses are largely made of silicones with varying Shore hardness grades.  In this way, the feeling to the touch is made to emulate that of the missing facial part to the highest possible degree.
